Hi
Well, I'm a Debian user, but I would start the computer in single user
maintenance mode.
To initiate the single user mode, just pass the bootparameter "S" to init.
This means (using LILO to boot the system):
type 'linux S' on the LILO prompt. If you don't see a LILO prompt, then try
hitting TAB when the word LILO appears while booting.
If your default label isn't 'linux', then you have to replace 'linux' by the
name of your label of course.
To find out how your default label is called, simpliy pay attention to a
normal bootup. The first line that appears after the LILO Prompt (usualy
after a timeout) says something like
Loading <your_default_label> .........
then the kernel messages flush by.
Ok, I hope this works for you.
